DIY : Buffet Labels

When i bought my first can of Chalkboard paint i couldn't stop thinking of all the things i could do, the potential was huge! After proper thought , many of the ideas which sounded good in my head were in fact useless unti i saw the cutest chalkboard candy buffet labels at a wedding and had to make some for myself!

They came in pretty handy at a birthday brunch. I used disposable recharge cards, sticks , some paper tape and chalk.

DIY : Birthday Garland

Oh what a summer .... My dancing feet are recovering from all the long nights as the DJ brought back the 80's while we answered with our renditions of the Lambada, Running Man and Moonwalk!

With all the celebrations , i still managed to craft. Here's the latest from an intimate birthday where I made party garlands using thin rope, cup cake cups and comic book paper:

Fun times!

DIY : Bottled Family Album

Bored of picture frames? Why not try soda bottles and jars? You can do so much with this idea.

Go all out and decorate the bottles with ribbon , fill them up with colored sand or keep it simple. I recommend to use black and white or sepia colored pictures for a vintage effect. Matter paper is also the best way to go.

Here's my take of a family album, hope you like it!

DIY: Pop Up Frame

I've always liked pop up cards and when i saw this easy tutorial , i just had to try it for myself.

Since i didn't have an occasion to send out a card, i put a small twist to this project and made a 3D Frame.

Materials:
- Wallpaper
- Newspaper
- String
- Glue Gun
- Cardboard
- Frame

I stuck the newspaper on wall paper to give it more thickness

Then made heart and butterfly cut outs

Using a glue gun , stick the string to the middle crease of the folded shapes. Add a bit on the back

Remove the glass from the frame , you won't need it!

Et voila!

DIY : Magnetic Memorykeeps

Scrapbooks, souvenirs and memory keeping are not just for teens and mommies. If anything, the 20 something crowds are making the most of their lives and creating the most memories, some better left forgotten and many worth remembering.

Here's how to can turn a magnetic board into a hip and modern frame

Use scrapbook paper for a vintage looking background

You can either stick them on with glue tack or magnets

I found these gorgeous butterfly magnets at Magrudy's Center Jumeirah

Now start memory keeping!
The souvenirs are not stapled or glued so they are well preserved

Black Swan Meets Footloose

It was Natalie Portman's portrayal of a coo-coo ballerina and the sad news that the last typewriter factory in the world shut down that inspired my next project.

Using paper stickers only, here's how you can transform a white side table into a Kitsch accessory and  at almost no cost at all!

How pretty are prima ballerinas' tu-tus?

Such a sucker for cassette tapes, can't believe they're already "vintage"

Et Voila!

Spring/Summer 2011 Candle Pots

For the most of you who believe fashion is art, here's how to get decorate your house with this season's must-haves!

Material
- Last month's fashion magazine
- Mod podge
- Glue
- Glass candle pots
- Napkins

Start by wiping the jar from the inside to ged rid of the residue

Cut out your fave items and glue them onto the jar

Peel the napkin layers , you'll need the thinnest sheet

Cut a hole in the center and wrap the pot

This is the fun part! With a brush add a layer of mod podge on the napkin. Do it gently since the napkin can easily tear

Let it dry naturally so be patient!

And good things will happen to those who wait... So fetch!
